The role of micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is very important because they are one of the drivers of the Indonesian economy. In commemoration of Youth Pledge Day, Kumparan again held a festival aimed at millennial SME activists, namely the 2021 Millennial Owned Festival (UMKM). This festival will last for three days, from 26 to 28 October 2021 with the theme #kumparantemanUMKM.

The 2021 Kumparan MSME Festival is the second year for Kumparan to hold the largest online millennial SME activity . Interestingly, this SME Festival presents Master Class as a coaching program that gives SMEs the opportunity to develop their business. Also accompanied by a series of events such as keynote speeches , webinars and talk shows from four SME sectors, namely culinary, craft, beauty, and fashion, as well as Local Brand Editor’s Choice as a form of appreciation for the contribution of SMEs, and the appearance of Indonesian musicians.

Not only that, this festival also involves three partners including banking, e – commerce , and the government to provide in-depth guidance for selected participants. The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo will open the event and a number of Working Cabinet ministers will participate, such as Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, then Erick Thohir who is Minister of SOEs, Sri Mulyani as Minister of Finance, then Bahlil Lahadalia as Minister of Investment, and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno and Minister of SME Cooperatives, Teten Masduki.

This year’s SME Festival also presents well-known public figures who are also business people. Among others are Prilly Latuconsina who is an actor and Founder of SINA, Ria Miranda as Creative Director of RiaMiranda, Dian Pelangi who is a designer, Decky Sastra as Founder of Rawtype Riot & Winner of Local Brand Editor’s Choice 2020, and Niko Julius as digital marketing expert , and many more. . These speakers will later share their experiences and insights in starting a business.

Last year, the MSME Festival succeeded in inspiring 30 million millennial participants, witnessed by 155,808 spectators, attended by 50 communities, and invited more than 50 experts and public figures. This has also brought the coil to be awarded the Best Revenue Diversification Product/Project/Services award by the World News Publishers Association or WANIFRA.
